Building a safer neighborhood
MPNA
In March of 2021 we saw the formation of the Mandan Park Neighborhood Association, its registration and acceptance into SONA in May.
Immediately we worked with neighbors, community groups and city officials to address traffic issues.
MPNA sent patrols across the neighborhood looking for areas of concern. Immediately Albright and Dorothy Patach stood out, so we informed officials. We cleaned up the Albright Park area and our Citizen Patrol cleaned the playground equipment.
We worked with a community group (We Are South Omaha )to produce a petition and get signatures about traffic light removals.
Mandan Park Neighborhood Association also held its first “September in South Omaha" party at Kendall's Bar
Mandan Park Neighborhood Association signed up for its first City of Omaha Neighborhood Cleanup in 2022.
Throughout the summer we hiked, patrolled and documented things of note like the lift station work.
On September 17th we had the 2nd “September in South Omaha” party at Mandan Park. OPD mounted police and two officers joined us. We had a delicious smoked brisket meal with many sides and watermelon.
On October 15 we had our second neighborhood cleanup at Marrs Middle School.
